Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Friday claimed that AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj seems to have forgotten that if there are any deficiencies in the 37 STPs (sewage treatment plants), they were because of the previous Arvind Kejriwal government.
The Delhi BJP spokesperson further stated that Bharadwaj should first respond to the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) report which has recently come out, and points out that the previous Kejriwal government in the national capital failed to clean the Yamuna despite spending Rs 6,856 crore between 2015 and 2022, and allowing 37 Sewage Treatment Plants to fail, he alleged.

Kapoor said that the BJP government has just been in power for the past eight months, and in this duration, it has brought qualitative improvements to the STPs installed at the Najafgarh and Shahdara drains, that are responsible for the major share, that is 84 per cent of Yamuna’s pollution, thereby making a good start towards cleaning the river.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Bharadwaj had questioned BJP government’s claims regarding Yamuna cleaning, stating that 37 STPs had failed treatment standards, which confirms that untreated sewage was going into the river.
Bharadwaj said that his claims were based on an RTI (Right to Information) Act reply.
